One of our new Intriguing Faces painting series. Every Face tells a story; some stories are easy to guess, others may be a bit of a surprise, but all are intriguing.

The original name on Grímhildr’s Birth Certificate was Helen.  She was born and raised in Minnesota, the Land of 10,000 Lakes and where the majority of the population is of Nordic descent.    When phone books were still used, the Hennepin County book had 10 pages of Andersons compared to a 1/4 page of a typically more common name Smith.

Grímhildr’s always had an affinity for Vikings and Nordic Culture.  Her ancestry.com results can back with 92% Swedish, Norwegian and Icelandic.  She can discuss in detail Valhalla, Valkyries, Loki, Thor and other Norse Mythology.    She’s known to serve a mean Lutefisk (dried whitefish treated with lye) and Swedish Meatballs, shops only at IKEA and has a repertoire of Swen and Ollie jokes.  On any given Football Sunday, she can be  found parked in front of her TV routing for the Vikings.  Growing up, mama told her Vikings Purple People Eaters bedtime stories.  Grímhildr fervently hopes someday she’ll make the cut to be a featured Vikings End Zone Fan in full Viking Chick regalia.

Last year after binge watching several seasons of Vikings on Netflix, she decided to formally change her name from Helen to Grímhildr to better reflect her true persona.  Embracing the name change, she revamped wardrobe to bustiers with buckles and metal rivets and now has constant helmet head hair from wearing a helmet around her house.  She starting taking sword lessons for exercise and dropped spin class and booked a trip to a Norwegian Ice Hotel above the Arctic Circle to view the Northern Lights by dogsled.

Kindly note that Grímhildr and all the Intriguing Face character stories are fictional and any resemblance to an actual person is purely coincidence.

Grímhildr’s painting is mixed media (acrylic and markers) on 9x12 paper, signed and dated on the back and ready for framing.  Options includes with and without Matting; finished size when matted =  12x16.  Free Shipping within the USA.
